- Idaho State U Nurse Residency program available
Idaho State University has developed a Rural Nurse residency program for new graduates. Participants receive 64 h of seminars, 104 hours of supervised clinical experience, all in their home communities using web conferencing and high tech simulations., at no cost to participants. Faculty and staff provide support and information for preceptors, residents and nurse administrators to ensure a flexible, locally adapted, successful completion of the 12-month program.
Next session begins June 2010. Applications accepted on first-come, first-served basis.

- Governor Richardson declared January 28, 2010 Nurses Day in New Mexico
Governor Richardson signed a proclamation supporting nurses and their work in New Mexico, making 1/28/2010 Nurses Day in New Mexico, for the effort by nurses across the globe to have 2010 the International Year of the Nurse, honoring the legacy of Florence Nightingale and other nurses, midwives, and health care workers of the past and present, who have shown how personal actions can make a world of difference.

- Nursing Legislative Forum-Save The Date!
On Wednesday, May 12, 2010, District 1 (Albuquerque) will be sponsoring Legislative Forum for nurses, including a presentation by Linda Siegle, lobbyist for NMNA and other groups, on "The Power of One Voice." This presentation will cover the legislative process, the importance of involvement in policy and the political process for nurses. The local legislators will be invited to attend, so that you can discuss your issues with them.
This event is from 5:30- 7:30 p.m. at the Albuquerque Grand Airport Hotel on Yale.
Upon submission of the evaluation form, you will receive 1.0 contact hour of continuing education credit.
- New Mexico Board of Nursing has a new Executive Director!
The New Mexico Board of Nursing has announced the hiring of Deborah Walker as their new Executive Director.
NMNA is delighted with the Board of Nursing's choice for executive director and heartily welcome Ms. Walker back to New Mexico!
