    Late Effects of Pediatric Cancer Therapy

    Jill P. Ginsberg, M.D., is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Director of the Cancer Survivorship Program at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Here, she discusses the types of pediatric cancer and their survival rates, therapies, and side effects.
    This lecture and the post-test is worth 1.5 credit hours.


    The author notes that three out of four children with cancer survive into adulthood so more attention is being paid to long-term effects of cancer therapy in children. These effects may include organ dysfunction, second malignancies, impaired fertility, and psychosocial problems in childhood cancer. She cites the Children's Oncology Group's guidelines for the continuing care of childhood and adolescent survivors.



  • Writing CE and Approved Provider Applications workshop

    NMNA, an ANCC-accredited approver of CE, is providing two separate workshops on Friday, 10/22/2010 at Santa Ana Star Casino Conference Center in Bernalillo, NM.

    On Friday Evening, 6:00- 9:00 p.m. we will be hosting the Annual Membership meeting and dinner, also at the Santa Ana Star Casino.

  • US Government launches website for finding health care plans

    \ The federal government has launched a very user-friendly website to help citizens to find health care insurance policies that will meet their needs: www.HealthCare.gov. It integrates information from several websites. Currently there is no information on costs, but that will be in place in October.

  • Governor Richardson declared January 28, 2010 Nurses Day in New Mexico

    Governor Richardson signed a proclamation supporting nurses and their work in New Mexico, making 1/28/2010 Nurses Day in New Mexico, for the effort by nurses across the globe to have 2010 the International Year of the Nurse, honoring the legacy of Florence Nightingale and other nurses, midwives, and health care workers of the past and present, who have shown how personal actions can make a world of difference.
