New Mexico Nurses Association is an American Nurses Credentialing Center Accredited Approver. That means that if you are writing a CE program for a specialty organization, your facility, or to give to nurses in general, you would need to go to DOWNLOADS (far right on the tab bar above) and choose the correct form.
The New Mexico Board of Nursing (the licensing board) requires that all RNs and LPNs have 30 contact hours of Continuing Nursing Education each renewal period (2 years). These contact hours may be acquired through on-line courses, from conferences you attend, from study-at-home courses, or from academic hours you have received in the past two years (not basketweaving, but nursing or science courses required for a higher degree) and EACH academic hour counts as 15 contact hours. If you take one 3 academic hour course, you'd have 45 contact hours- more than enough to renew your license. We list under the DOWNLOADS tab the courses open to the public by the person or group sponsoring the course. They are listed as APPROVED CNE ACTIVITIES. There are lots of questions about CE. You can click the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for more information on Continuing Nursing Education. |
